Our CSA Garden Box is a vegetable box scheme that gives you a chance to connect with and support a local farm while eating truly fresh, local, seasonal vegetables and herbs.
What you will find in your Garden Box will vary by week according to season. We aim to provide you with a good variety of vegetables and herbs each week. Unlike other CSAs where you pay for the entire season up upfront, our payment schedule is more evenly spaced throughout the year (see below for details).
Our pricing is based on:
Summer CSA Garden Box: 7 pound box $17/week, 10 pound box $23/week
Autumn CSA Garden Box: 7 pound box $16/week, 10 pound box $22/week
We will provide you with 7 or 10 pounds of vegetables each week, depending on which size of box you sign up for.
Wondering what size Garden Box you should sign up for?
Most larger families signed up for a 10 pound box, while smaller families and couples opted for the 7 pound box. If you need more than one box, please let us know.
When will the CSA Garden Box start this year?
We are starting the Summer Box as soon as the weather allows. We are hoping to start in June sometime. If you sign up, we will be in contact with you shortly before the first CSA Garden Box is ready.
Where do I pick up my vegetables?
The pick up location for the CSA Garden Box is the south side of the House of James bookstore (2743 Emerson St. Abbotsford). Please bring your own bags to bring your vegetables home in.
We offer a Summer and an Autumn CSA Garden Box.
7 or 10 pound Summer CSA Garden Box: June – Oct.10
(runs for 5 months).
Choose either Mondays 5-6pm or Wednesdays 12-1pm
Summer Box Payment Schedule:
1st box in June (paying for June, July: up to 9 boxes)
1st box in August (paying for Aug, Sept, and 2 boxes in Oct.: up to 11 boxes)
7 or 10 pound Autumn CSA Garden Box: Oct.17 – end of Dec. or Jan. depending on the season
(runs for 3 months).
Wednesday, 4-6pm
Autumn Box Payment Schedule:
Oct 17: (paying for Oct. and Nov.: 7 boxes)
1st box in Dec. (paying for Dec. and Jan.: 8 boxes)
Missed boxes, vacations, and holidays
Please note that we will not issue a refund if you miss picking up your box during the allotted times on your pick-up day.
However, when you come on a ‘payment day’ (i.e. 1st box in June, 1st box in August) and inform us of any pick-up days during that payment period that you will be away; you will not have to pay for those Garden Boxes in your lump-sum.
Please note that the CSA Garden Box will run during holiday Mondays and on Halloween (a Wed.)
The CSA Garden Box program will not run on Wed. Dec.26.
The vegetables we are growing for our CSA Garden Boxes:
Summer Crops:
Green Beans, Beets, Broccoli Raab, Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrots, Cucumbers, Fennel, Kohlrabi, Leeks, Lettuce, Onions, Peppers, Potatoes, Summer Squash, Swiss Chard, Shallots and Tomatoes.
Autumn/Winter crops:
Beets, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celeriac, Kale, Collards, Fennel, Leeks, Lettuce, Onions, Pac Choi, Parsnips, Potatoes, Pumpkins, Radishes, Shallots, Spinach, Winter Squash, Swiss Chard, and Turnips.
Herbs:
Parsley, Basil, Marjoram, Summer Savory, Thyme, Sage, Dill, Cilantro and Rosemary.
Due to the unpredictable nature of farming, we cannot guarantee that all the listed vegetables will be included in your box.
