Artichokes

Our artichoke transplants are in the ground. Artichokes were one of the first crops seeded in the winter.

We are making some changes to our weekly schedule this year. We are not planning on attending the Abbotsford Farm & Country market this year. We'll miss seeing all our regulars, and wanted to encourage you to sign up for our weekly CSA Vegetable boxes, which are available for pick up in Abbotsford on Tuesday evenings, between 4:30pm-6:00pm, starting June 27. Today’s winter squash highlights include Sweet Dumpling and Acorn winter squash. Take the handle of your knife and bang it against the stem so it pops off. Then, cut the squash in half, scoop out the seeds and bake in your oven at 350° until you can pierce it with a fork. Serve with butter, salt and pepper for a sweet and satisfying side dish.

Have you tried our Marina Di Chioggia winter squash? Available now @portmoodymarket by the slice, or as a whole.

We’re not able to make it to the @newwestfarmers today due to being under the weather. We’ll take some rest like this bee in our daughter’s dahlias.

My social media posting has stalled out but we've been active here at the farm - bringing in garlic and onions, planting, hoeing, harvesting and keeping track of what's working and what's not.
