We are going to be at the Abbotsford Farm and Country Market this Saturday with radishes and broccoli raab. We are still waiting on better weather in order to have more variety to start our Garden Boxes.
The radishes are a welcome spring treat – crisp, colorful heat – great in salads, or eaten by the handful. When radishes are in season we’ll have a small bowl of them alongside our lunches and dinners.
Broccoli raab (or rapini) is a favorite of mine (CA) and we enjoy it sautéed with olive oil and garlic or in Broccoli Raab Pasta (see our “What’s Cooking” Tab). I even saw a recipe that used it as a pizza topping (sautéed till tender first). It is a leafy green vegetable related to the turnip and has a nutty flavor with a slight zing when eaten raw. It would be great mixed with lettuce in salads as well.
